FREE, WITH A RESPONSIBILITY!
The fact that the devil has no power over a believer does not mean he is no longer wicked. He is "the wicked one", and anyone who is wicked will surely do wickedly, just as anyone who is good will surely do good.
The devil may not have any power over you but he knows your bank details, he knows where you live, he knows when you're travelling on the highway, he knows when you're suppose to get married, he knows when you're suppose to graduate!
You may ask "but the devil is not omniscient, how come he knows so much about me?". Well, the police doesn't know you until you become a crime suspect. And once you become their suspect, they'd do everything to prove that you're either guilty or not.
We live in a world where Satan is a ruler; and as believers, we're only representatives of heaven, we are ambassadors of Christ; though we live in this world, we are not of this world. Giving your life to Christ was the biggest crime you committed against the devil, and since that day, he has been watching all your moves.
There are two reasons why he is watching you; it's either to draw you back to his kingdom or to file a case against you in the courts of heaven. That's why the bible says " be sober and vigilant because the devil, like a roaring lion, is looking for who to devour".
As an ambassador of another kingdom, the devil cannot touch you. All he can do is to make you forget where you came from or file a law suit that may lead to your persecution. That's exactly what happened to Job; the devil filed a law suit against him, and Job was found guilty.
He may send armed robbers to you, he may send a prostitute in your direction so that you can look and fall like Eve did, he may send the wrong engineer to repair your car so that you'd continue to waste your money on car repairs, he may send a wicked lecturer to fail you for no reason. He has the right to do all these things but you also have the right to stop him!
Just like he can't stop doing wickedly, he can't stop you from stopping his wickedness! The bible says "when the enemy shall come, like a flood shall the Spirit of God raise a standard against him", and the Spirit of God is domicile in you. So when the devil comes with his problems, raise a standard against him!
Jesus and His disciples were crossing over a river to preach the gospel at the other side, and while they were still in the middle of the river, the storm arose, and Jesus who was sleeping also arose and rebuked the storm.
Don't sit when the enemy rises against you. When he rises, you should also arise and rebuke him. Jesus didn't wait for the ship to capsid, He rebuked the storm immediately after He arose. So the next thing to do after you arise is to rebuke. Don't wait till the devil does his worst, you may not recover from it!
If the devil could do wickedly in the presence of Jesus, then what do you expect? Stop praying to be free from Satan, Satan is not holding you, he is free to do anything he likes here. However, it is only what you allow him to do around you that he will do.
Praying to be free from Satan is more like praying to God to terminate your life and take you to heaven. Please, don't pray to be free from the devil, Jesus had already set you free from him. Just deal with him! If Israel is not free from Satan, i wonder which nation will?
Let me conclude with this; salvation may have brought you freedom, but it also left you with a responsibility to keep Satan in his place. May God give us understanding!
